Meet Dr. Hira Khan

A fifth-generation doctor, and a proud first-generation Chiropractor, Dr. Khan always thought she’d follow her grandparent’s footsteps and become a pediatrician or a surgeon. But when her mother was suffering from glioblastoma, Dr. Khan knew that she needed to devote her life to healthier living. An avid hiker and explorer Dr. Khan wanted to find a unique path to healthcare.  Around that time an aunt introduced her to Chiropractic. It didn’t take long to learn that this was the calling she was looking for. Unlike other healthcare professions, it focused on being healthy, whereas the US healthcare system focuses on disease. She knew that she was born to be a Chiropractor.

Why Chiropractic?

Dr. Khan truly believes that optimal health is only present when our nervous system is functioning 100%. We live our lives through our nervous system and its connection to the rest of our body. A fixation, subluxation, in a joint hinders messages from flowing between the brain and the body. This leads to lack of sensation and ultimately causes discomfort, pain and/or illness.

Dr. Khan set out on a mission to learn chiropractic but specifically pediatric chiropractic. She received Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. And afterwards, went on to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA to earn Doctor of Chiropractic degree. She has been practicing for 4 years. In 2017 Dr. Khan received Webster’s technique certification from the ICPA. She is also certified by the Academy Council of Chiropractic Pediatrics.

While at graduate school not only was she learning from the best, but she was sharing that knowledge with other students. Dr. Khan was teaching Sacro Occipital technique as a club leader, a teachers assistant for Physical Therapy and Physical Diagnosis courses, a clinic radiology intern, and the vice-president of Student International Chiropractors Association.

Fun Fact: In her spare time she enjoys being outside, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, working out, drinking coffee, working with dogs, and spending time with her family and friends.
